This course has forced me to come out of my comfort zone in many different ways. Its no secret that blogging, tweeting and using technology was newer for me. It was challenging at first, but just like everything else in life I used it a lot and eventually mastered it! This course was a lot. It was a lot of writing, reflecting on lessons, creating lessons, being observed and a lot of video taping myself/ trying out new resources. With that being said though, I learned SO MUCH. Learning more about growth mindset has been huge and ill be taking what I learned with me to carry that on in my future classrooms. The resources are also beyond helpful that we have shared as a classroom and I have set time aside to save many of the helpful tools to look into them further.
Overall this course surprised me a lot. It was definitely challenging but I think I overcame a few challenges that I wasn’t sure about. Being observed once more was also extremely eye opening. I think its so important to watch and see how we grow over the courses, as well as how our lesson plans evolve. This was a great course for sure.

Great comments. I concur about being taken out of the comfort factor. Videoing yourself teaching is a great technique. One thing I miss is being able to visit with other teachers to see how they handle their class. Unfortunately due to the schedule I work I am not able to get out of my classroom to observe other teachers in similar grade levels. Good luck is sounds like you are on the right track.

I’m so glad you have mastered so much! Your attitude does sound very much as if you have developed a growth mindset. Nice. It is so rewarding but kinda tricky for me to stay in that growth mindset because old habits die hard. Letting myself believe the compliments from observers helps me grow and still keeps me humble. It is me being kind to me that needs work and discipline. I hope and pray you are kind to yourself and keep reflecting positively. We finished this course. Yay! This course surprised me too! In a good way! I feel like I’ve learned a lot through trying different technologies and I’m not as much of a technophobe as when I started. This is my biggest achievement. Now, I’m willing to try any technology, at least once (kind of like a child who must try at least one bite – maybe they’ll like it!). Good luck with your next classes!

I definitely agree that this course was initially daunting, for sure! Especially, to a person who never had personal facebook or twitter! Initially, the observations were just as grueling. I guess I just don’t like people judging me and I am a little of a control freak…
I will concur that I have a new appreciation for an online PLN and the observations helped me to understand that I do not need to be perfect but just have the ability to be reflective.
